Silence must feel heavy to extraverts that want to be able to break it.
I was hanging out with an extravert that took note of the large group of people being quiet. He made an offhand comment about it being awkward. We were getting our lunch at a front-end conference. Most of the audience were front-end programmers, the majority of them seemed to be introverted. I feel most introverts aren’t perturbed by silence. When I was a teenager most silence seemed like awkward silence. Now, it’s just peaceful. I think the only time silence is awkward is when there’s the expectation of conversation. As a teen, I was much more self-conscious about the flow of conversation.
